Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE]
This Privacy Policy describes how The Job General ("we," "us," "our"), operated by [LEGAL BUSINESS NAME], collects, uses, and protects information when a builder and their contacts (sub-contractors, clients, vendors) use our service.
What we collect
- Account information: a builder's name, company name, and phone number, used solely to let them log in and to identify their own projects.
- Project contact information: the names, phone numbers, and email addresses a builder adds for their own subs, clients, and vendors, so messages from those contacts can be matched to the right project.
- Message content: the text, photos, and file attachments sent to or from a builder's dedicated phone number or email address, so they can be read, filed under the right project, and shown on that builder's dashboard.
- Usage data: basic technical logs (timestamps, error logs) needed to operate and troubleshoot the service.
How we use it
- To operate the core service: reading inbound messages, filing them under the right project, and keeping a builder's budget, schedule, and to-do list current.
- To send the messages a builder's own workflow triggers — a clarifying question when a message is ambiguous, or a follow-up a builder chooses to send.
- To provide customer support and troubleshoot problems with the service.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use message content for advertising.
Who can see what
Every builder's projects, messages, and files are only ever visible to that builder — no builder can see another builder's data. Message content from a project's contacts is visible to the builder who owns that project, since that's the whole point of the service: giving a builder a single place to see what's happening on their own jobs.
Data retention
We retain account and message data for as long as an account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for backups and legal compliance. A builder can request deletion of their account and associated data by contacting us (see below).
Third parties we use to operate the service
- Twilio — sends and receives our SMS/MMS messages.
- Mailgun — sends and receives our inbound email.
- Anthropic (Claude) — reads and classifies inbound message content so it can be filed under the right project and budget/schedule item.
- Render — hosts our application and database.
Each of these providers processes data only as needed to provide their service to us, under their own privacy and security terms.
Your choices
- A contact can reply STOP to any message thread at any time to stop receiving further texts from that project number.
- A builder can request their data be corrected or deleted by contacting us at the address below.
